A publication becomes particularly meaningful when it transmits classical Chinese culture using contemporary visual language. Publications designed to appear like unearthed relics, while being simple imitations of classics, already existed 500 years ago. This idea is unacceptable to me, no matter the context.

On the basis of my reflections regarding China’s design environment, I designed The Record of Suzhou’s Prosperity: A Collection of Works in Suzhou Taohuawu Wood Engraving New Year Painting Exhibition. Instead of depicting the strong rural flavor of ancient handicraft, I tried to present using strong comparisons this subject that has been the topic of many previous publications.
